Can’t tell if menopause is still rocking my world or if its
old age setting in but I do know that I have been doing some mighty odd things
lately…….recently I found myself moving the vacuum cleaner ( which I still cannot help calling a Hoover...) over a tiny piece of
thread again and again… then I picked it up, eyed it off and placed it back
down on the carpet so I could move the vacuum cleaner over it to give it a second chance…I
mean seriously??? I also slept the whole night with the heater up full bore
whilst the window was left wide open; to be fair hubby failed to notice the
window too! I have put my bra on inside out and wondered why it was such a hassle
to do up, I have worn odd earrings, and cried dramatically for over two hours
as the result of the watching the movie War Horse (oh the shame) …Ah well at
least I am aware of my humanity! Humans are benignly humorous at the best of
times and seem to do the oddest of things….
For instance I have been planting winter vegetables in the
garden (where else?) along with hubby (no I am not planting him he is planting
vegetables with me) and our loveable pooch has been digging them up as
systematically as we have been putting them in…and we persevere regardless because
the exercise itself has so much promise in it! A bit like washing the dishes just
so we have a nice clean plate to dirty up again! Or using an exercise treadmill to go
walking???? Or shaving our beards and other bits even though the hair does have
a purpose…in fact fashion dictates a lot of our odd behaviours, how we dress,
what we say, what we eat…..and then there is the nightly search for the remote
control which generally requires more leg work than changing the channel
manually….and saying odd little no brainers like "it's always the last
place you look". Of course it is. Why would you keep looking after you've
found it?
At least I can still laugh, in between the hot flushes, the jiggling
spare tyre and the periodic blank moments in which I forget my name, your name
their name, any name…….now what was I doing again???

Bugger.
From insanity due to lack of sleep and small children to perimenopause. Wonderful innit.
