What a quiet Easter break this year....son off to the Blues fest with girlfriend...Miss independent and nearly independent off on their adventures, hubby working and only my darling youngest at home! An incongruous celebration at best...( it’s about new life and here in the south we are heralding the onset of winter.....it’s about a spiritual belief and faith that I cannot help but relate to its historical context which throws a new light on it all...read ‘Joshua The man They called Jesus’ By Ian Jones recognised Historian....and it has chocolate in it which presents no end of moral and personal dilemmas for moi...and yes I am aware of my intimate “bestie’ relationship with the desirable stuff!!!)
Oh well all that aside, youngest and I have had a quiet, relaxing, comforting and yes enjoyable time of it! It has given us perhaps the first incidence of alone time since those precious few days just after her birth. We have philosophised, read and shared inspirational stories and reflections, watched old black and white movies for which we both share a fascination and love....eaten chocolate (hush please it upsets us to own just how much...) conditioned each other’s hair, made a questionable face mask from egg whites, honey and almond meal, worn said face mask and fought off the puppy who has a thing for yummy faces....and taken said puppy for an Easter parade walk up and down our main street dressed in his special new jumper which was his Easter pressie.....( and shame, each swelled with a mixture of embarrassment and pride as multi- tourists made smiling comments about his cuteness and he proceeded to make tongue on skin contact with eager intensity!!)
Yes...a holiday we appreciated in Epicurean simplicity and pleasure...a spiritual time in the deepest secular sense of the word....
