Fear is a funny thing....but not a thing we often laugh at...Except perhaps in that timorous way you do when you are trying to mask some inner fear you fear is not a reasonable fear and may make you look odd, which you probably fear.
One of the greatest causes of distress, anxiety, argument, boasting, untoward ego demonstration etc is fear! We fear looking different, being different, we fear not fitting in......we fear contradiction because it questions our personal stability....we fear confusion or unpredictability because we cannot control it and are not sure we can handle it, in short we fear our perceived shortcomings...we are not ok with just being, we judge ourselves constantly and as an aside we then judge our world and those in it and this is where we end up in conflict, which of course we fear......
Safety lies in an unchanging universe and we try to conjure one, full of unchanging routine and unchanging perceptions or beliefs....but in reality lack of change is stagnant, a pond with no wind to keep the water flowing will grow weed and kill its fish...if you stave away change then you are putting your life in prison and this is very limiting not to mention a punishment! The Universe reflects the nature of things to us and it is in constant flux, moving always from one season to the next, the peripheries of these changing as the earth and its universe change...species die out and some are newly discovered, adaptations arise, large earth movements, floods and fires kill and bring new life....there is no security and only limited certainty.
Stuart Wilde says, ‘Life for many is a futile attempt to become secure in a dimension that is intrinsically insecure.' I say on with the insecurity it’s a measure of your freedom!!! Freedom can be exhilarating if you let it! Open your arms wide to change, uncertainty and insecurity... do not fear these for they speak to you of being alive and do not (especially by other people’s standards), judge yourself...you may easily sentence yourself to jail and miss out on the beauty of the unpredictable......a child’s smile, the soft nuzzle of a dog, a friend’s embrace, an astounding sunset, the ocean on a crisp cold but clear winter’s morn, the laughing impropriety of a joke on you, the accidental meeting of attuned souls, the knock at the door to opportunity.......being free means it’s ok to step in a puddle and ok to walk in the rain, it’s ok to go barefoot and its downright fun to run in the long grass or grab the next big wave or blow bubble gum all over your face....and of course its ok to make mistakes....
